Hendrik Kligge won the “Best Presentation” award for his presentation at the workshop “Challenging Construction Grammar” in Ascona, Switzerland.

In his presentation entitled “Individual differences in German Noun Phrase Agreement: Separating Patterns with Mark Twain, ChatGPT and with Teenagers”, Hendrik Kligge explained that…

  1. …we find more variation in the use of German cases than would be expected when looking at the standard grammar, and
  2. …we should use ‘pattern seperation’ as a concept to observe the ‘learning/acquisition trajectory’ in which the rules from the standard grammar are learned.

The award was given by the convenors of the workshop, Elena Smirnova (Université de Neuchâtel), Martin Hilpert (Université de Neuchâtel), and Jenny Audring (Universiteit Leiden) and is rewarded with 500 CHF.
